When we talk about weight rooms the first thing that comes in our mind is weight training. Weight training involves exercising with heavy machinery and its aim is increasing physical strength. The equipment that usually fills is such as heavy machines, dumbbells and barbells. Such a place may be home-based owned by an individual or one open to the public. Whatever the place it is recommended to get the weight room flooring done for protection

Protection of the floor's surface is a very important factor that requires consideration when carpeting the place. This means that the material that would be chosen to carpet it should be strong. This is because the weight of the heavy machinery that would be put in that area can easily damage the floor's surface; usually concrete or cement. Rubber is the most commonly used for this purpose since it posses stamina and strength.

Rubber is also commonly preferred because of its soft texture. The texture acts as a shock absorber just in case accidents occur and reduces the risk of the patron sustaining serious injuries. This therefore gives assurance to the people in that area and also sets a relaxed mood during practice. Other factors taken into consideration when choosing flooring material is the color, design, and pattern of the floor since the it plays a major role in the designing of the room in general. It contributes to the mood which will be required to be set essentially to mass training.

Other advantages of weight room flooring include the sound absorption properties. Since that area would produce different kinds of noises such as from the machinery and work out sessions this property would come in handing when trying to limit the sound to that specific area in case it is located in the midst of other rooms that would be interfered with.

As an economic strategy, rubber is used since it has a high durability. This means that it would take time before it wears thus reducing the number of times the weight room flooring has to be changed. Maintenance cost is therefore reduced.

Since the rubber floor involves just placing the rubber surface on top of the other, the process of installing is quite easy. It does not involve other additional equipment. Adhesives might however be used on the edges and seams as a safety precaution when someone trips. This is done using few strips of double sided carpet tape.

There are three different styles of weight room flooring that can be used depending on what place is it; home or public. For most public centers the roll carpeting is preferred since it is cheap and easy to install. The standard gym mats and tiles are durable, strong and have sound and vibration absorption properties. Interlocking weight room mats fit easily and have high stamina.

All in all it is highly recommended that recycled rubber be used in the weight room flooring. Not only is it an a contribution to protection of the environment but the recycled rubber is said to be much stronger and more durable than the original rubber got form the trees. It is mostly obtained from old tyres.
