Reasons To Install A Garage Floor
Improving the overall look of the garage, as well as just upgrading the concrete garage floor are both compelling reasons to install garage floor tiles. If you work in your garage, then you understand that the floor is not just something you park a car on. It's the first thing you clean when you're done working, and the first thing to look dirty when it's not maintained. Well, I suppose the car itself might be the exception, but you get the point. If the garage floor is clean, the whole garage looks spiffy. If the garage floor is dirty, cracked, and stained, then the entire garage looks old and worn out. I always hate to finish a big job in the garage only to turn around and realize that now I have to spend an hour cleaning the floor, or leave it dirty.
What To Consider When Choosing Garage Flooring
There are numerous styles, tile types, and manufacturers out there, so you do have some decision making to do. Will you go with a myriad of colors, or just one? Do you want standard square tiles, or something a bit more eccentric? Does it matter to you if your garage flooring grips your shoes and channels water and debris out of the garage, or does it just need to look nice?
Why You Should Consider Sticky Garage Floor Tiles
When you consider just how effective they are, it makes sense that sticky-backed garage floor tiles are considered to be one of the best garage floor coverings that you can easily install on your own. Unlike epoxy garage floor paint, you can start the job and then finish three years down the road if those are the cards life deals you. Eventually, you will finish, and there's no real penalty for breaks in between. You can start and stop laying garage floor tile whenever you need, and in the end spend about as much time as you would have had you done it all in one go. You don't have to worry about phases or drying times or anything like that; just place six or seven tiles down before the game or TV show every day and eventually the entire garage flooring will be in place.
Preparing The Cement Garage Floor Is Easy
Tiles do require a cleaner surface than almost any other garage floor coating. As they have sticky backs, they'll stick to whatever they first contact; even if that first thing is dust, gravel, dirt, or oil. Therefore, it's very important to be sure that the garage floor is very, very clean and that any holes or cracks are filled in and sanded down to provide as even a surface as possible
Hire A Garage Floor Installer?
If you're going to hire someone to install your garage floor covering, then I would suggest considering going with epoxy. It's longer lasting and, to someone in good health, really doesn't take any longer to install than garage floor tiles do. If you plan to do it yourself, you only need a utility knife, though it's also handy to have a straight edge of some sort to make sure you keep things in line.
